Home-ACS - Advanced Conversion System by GreenLoop Energy
ACS, previously Advanced Pyrolysis System (APS) is a patented waste-to-energy (WTE) technology developed and tested over a period of more than 15 years in the US. The technology allows for a variety of feedstock materials including municipal solid waste (MSW), agricultural waste, medical waste, wood, tires, toxic chemicals, sludge and other materials to be cleanly converted to carbon char and gas.
The APS gasification technology is different from other systems. APS chemically decomposes waste into carbon char and synthesis fuel gas (syngas) through a process called pyrolysis. Pyrolysis is the application of high heat in the absence of oxygen. The process requires no incineration or burning of the waste. APS does not create ash or other toxic pollutants that are serious environmental concerns with incineration and competing WTE techniques.
The syngas that is created by APS is very similar to clean burning and environmentally friendly natural gas. The APS technology allows highly efficient combustion of the syngas within the system design. The heat that is generated is recycled to sustain the pyrolysis reaction and produce clean renewable electricity. Such complete combustion improves the efficiency of waste-to-energy project economics. As a result, the APS technology is cleaner, more cost effective, and more efficient than competing WTE technologies.
The APS technology is also well suited for compliance with emissions regulations. In fact APS is fully permitted in California for full-scale commercial operation where the emissions standards are some of the most stringent in the world, consistent with strict EU emission and other global market requirements.
For many years pyrolysis has been used for small, special purpose, batch-oriented applications such as disposal of hazardous waste. Today, APS is the only large-scale, commercial grade technology that can reliably process 8, 40 or more tons of waste per day. No other pyrolysis system on the market operates on a commercial scale, 7x24 continuous feed basis. The highly modular and scalable design allows plants with capacity of thousands of tons per day to be build using APS systems.
The APS system is driven by a sophisticated control technology that allows optimal performance and reliability through automated control, secure remote management, data collection, tuning and analysis. In fact various feedstock or combinations of feedstock can be processed by the APS technology automatically without reconfiguring the system.
The cost to install and operate APS is also lower than other technologies. The lower cost makes it possible for:
The Advanced Conversion System (ACS) technology reduces landfill by more than 90% while creating large amounts of renewable green energy. The ACS technology is the best alternative to landfill and incineration. ACS is a practical and cost effective solution for eliminating costly landfill and producing sustainable, climate-friendly renewable electricity.
